Has Nicole Arbour whitewashed Childish Gambino’s 'This is America'?

Nicole Arbour has been accused of whitewashing Childish Gambino’s polarizing music video "This is America." The YouTuber created a parody called "This Is America: Women’s Edit," which highlights issues women face such as depression and date rape. Arbour issued a statement via Twitter explaining her “rendition was to honour the spirt of the original video." What do you think?

Arbour posted a lengthy note on Twitter defending her intentions. 

Writer Jessie Dean Altman of Someecards said Arbour missed the mark. 

The issues that women face are serious ones and they do deserve attention. But latching on to a song and video with specific African-American symbolism is definitely not the way to do it.

Power 105.1's Charlamagne Tha God gave Arbour his infamous "Donkey of The Day" for producing her version of "This is America."
