Favorite psychological filmmaker: M. Night Shyamalan or Jordan Peele?

M. Night Shyamalan and Jordan Peele are modern day psychological cinema masters–creating some of the most horrifying and suspenseful films of the last 20 years. Shyamalan broke out as the director and screenwriter of the Oscar-nodded, critically acclaimed supernatural psychological thriller "The Sixth Sense." Peele went from comedy to horror with "Get Out," winning a Best Original Screenplay Oscar at the 2018 Oscars for the satirical-psychological horror/thriller. Who's your favorite psychological filmmaker?

After scoring two Oscar nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay at the 2000 Oscars for "The Sixth Sense," Shyamalan went on to continue with supernatural themes and twist endings in his work including—"Unbreakable," "Signs" and "The Village." While the filmmaker made a few films in the latter 2000s and 2010s that flopped, "Split" (2017) marked a strong comeback for the psychological-supernatural filmmaker.

While Shyamalan made a strong comeback with "Split" in 2017, some may argue Peele has taken over the mantle of psychological filmmaking. He won his first Oscar for writing "Get Out" and he's been on a roll ever since. The filmmaker scored another original, awards-worthy film with "Us" while also developing and narrating a reboot of "The Twilight Zone." Peele isn't done thrilling us; he's the producer and co-screenwriter of the upcoming "Candyman" spiritual sequel starring the original titular character Tony Todd.
