Which solo breakout star will rule 2019: Louis Tomlinson or Liam Payne?
Louis has been blowing up the charts in the U.K. "Just Hold On," produced by Steve Aoki, peaked at #2 and "Back to You," featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals, peaked at #8 on the UK Singles Chart. While he's cracked the top 40 with "Back to You," Louis still has to break into the U.S. pop market as a solo artist, but 2019 seems like his year to do that.
He's been hard at work on his debut album and we all thought it would definitely drop in 2019. Back in January 2018, a fan asked what was taking so long on Twitter and Louis tweeted in response: "I’m a perfectionist so things are taking a little longer. Few more songs to add! Believe me I’m as impatient as you all are ! Big love." Fans will have to "just hold on" in 2019... for perfection!
At the height of both Niall and Harry's solo superstardom in 2017, Liam burst onto the scene with "Strip That Down." The song would go on to become Liam's first top 10 hit in the United States.
Since then, he's released "Get Low" with Zedd, "Bedroom Floor," and "For You" with Rita Ora for the "Fifty Shades Freed" soundtrack. He also dropped a few bops throughout 2018, teasing what's to come. While his album was delayed, Liam dropped his "First Time" EP for the fans to enjoy in the interim.
