Is it too late for Lauryn Hill to make a comeback?

Lauryn Hill is making a grand return this summer, announcing tour dates to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her classic album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill." Some fans are excited about her return, but others aren't getting their hopes up. Hill has a reputation for being an unreliable artist who is often late to performances. Fans have been waiting 20 years for another studio album. It hasn't happened. But supporters say she's had a lot going on she will be worth the wait. What do you think? 🎤

Entertainment Weekly has the report:

Hill (who now performs as “Ms. Lauryn Hill”) will be playing Miseducation in full on this tour, which kicks off July 5 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The tour continues through early October across the United States, and even includes one summer festival date. Hill will headline Chicago’s Pitchfork Music Festival on July 22.

"The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" is almost 20 years old, released on August 25, 1998. The highly praised album is certified eight times platinum by Recording Industry Association of America and won five Grammys, including Album of the Year, in 1999. Yep, fans are ready for her grand return.

But others argue they have been over Hill for years. Cuepoint wrote back in 2014 that it's time to stop caring about Hill:

It’s been 16 years since the release of Hill’s only solo studio album, and though she has released little of any note since, she retains a certain mystique, draws a certain curiosity. What is she doing with her time? How many kids does she have? Is she broke? Will she return to her former glory? What was with that strange acoustic set she did for MTV back in… whenever that was, 2002?
It tells you something about her place in the music’s pantheon that nine years after Miseducation, one of the premier artists of the last decade was still wishing for her return.
The problem is, when you look back at her history, she hasn’t been as absent as it seems. She’s released a number of forgettable (forgotten?) songs: “The Passion” from The Passion of the Christ movie soundtrack; a remix of John Legend’s “So High”; a music video called “Social Drugs”; “Lose Myself” from the animated Surf’s Up film soundtrack; “Fearless Vampire Killer”; “Neurotic Society”. She’s toured unsuccessfully with The Fugees; she’s done a sporadic series of sloppy, disjointed concerts.

Skeptics have pointed out that Hill is an unreliable artist. She shows up late to her performances and these performances aren't always good. Sigh.
