AMAs 2017 Artist of the Year: Kendrick Lamar or Drake?

On Nov. 19, 2017, the American Music Awards is honoring the most popular music acts in America. The Tylt is predicting the winners in the Artist of the Year category. Fans can vote can officially on the AMAs website

The artists nominated for Artist of the Year are some of the most prolific in the pop music game today. Unfortunately, we couldn't include all five nominees in our Tylt bracket. It was a tough call, but we decided to leave off the Chainsmokers.

Don't forget to cast your vote in our other head-to-head debate below, and may the greatest pop act win.

Kendrick scored another mega-hit with his "Damn" LP. Some fans might even argue his latest effort is better than "To Pimp A Butterfly." Kendrick is considered this generation's greatest rapper/emcee/lyricist. MTV and music fans recognized this, resulting in a Video of the Year win at the 2017 VMAs. (Though, he lost Artist of the Year to Ed Sheeran.) But as the most respected emcee, he might be walking home with Artist of the Year this time around.

Kendrick is also nodded for Favorite Artist—Rap/Hip-HopFavorite Album—Rap/Hip-Hop, Favorite Song—Rap/Hip-Hop and Collaboration of the Year.

Below are some notable lyrics to "Humble," per Genius

🎶 Ayy, I remember syrup sandwiches and crime allowances. Finesse a nigga with some counterfeits, but now I’m countin' this. Parmesan where my accountant lives; in fact, I'm downin’ this. D'USSÉ with my boo bae tastes like Kool-Aid for the analysts.🎶

Drake stays winning. Drizzy has managed to cross over into contemporary R&B, dancehall, reggae and afro-beat, being revered as a mainstream pop artist. But at his core, he's still a hip-hop and rap artist. After the success of "Views" in 2016, Drake followed up with the chart-topping playlist "More Life." He's also nominated for Favorite Male Artist—Pop/Rock, Favorite Album—Pop/Rock, Favorite Artist—Rap/Hip Hop, Favorite Album—Rap/Hip Hop.

Below are some significant lyrics to "Sneakin'," per Genius

🎶 Niggas keep reaching and dissin.' Can't afford mistakes, not on this end. Make me call my bros for assistance. You gon' make me call my bros for assistance. Niggas keep reaching and dissin'. Put me in a fucked up position. You gon' make me call my bros for assistance. Make me call my bro.🎶
