Jordan Peele and Greta Gerwig directed two of the most acclaimed films of the year, but the Hollywood Foreign Press Association didn't notice. Peele made his directorial debut in "Get Out," which holds a 99 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Gerwig accomplished the same thing in her directorial debut. Which director's snub hurts the most? 🎥

It's time for a young African American to meet with his white girlfriend's parents for a weekend in their secluded estate in the woods, but before long, the friendly and polite ambience will give way to a nightmare.

E! Online recognized Peele's omission from the shortlist:

Jordan Peele: The Get Out director and writer was not nominated for his work on the acclaimed film, despite the fact that the movie was nominated for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy and the film's lead star Daniel Kaluuya was recognized for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.

Below is the synopsis of "Lady Bird," per IMDB.

In the early 2000s, an artistically-inclined seventeen year-old comes of age in Sacramento, California.

Laura Metcalf is receiving award recognition for her supporting turn in the film, but she is disappointed Gerwig isn't included. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, she says:

I was hoping that she would be recognized because having been on the set, I can vouch for the cast and the crew by saying what a terrific job she did. It's really her movie. I mean, I don't mean it's her in the movie, she crafted it in such a way that there was never a time on the set where people were looking around thinking, “Well, this isn't working, what are we going to do here instead? Can we rewrite this?”
