Should tourists be charged a fee to visit the 'Joker' stairs?

Some will say Joaquin Phoenix is the apotheosis of "Joker" but apparently the film contained another show stopper. The iconic stairs featured in the film that Phoenix dances down are stealing the spotlight and fans are racing to the Bronx, New York to take photos on them. But some Bronx residents and figures are frustrated with the new attention. The Bronx is one of the nation's poorest communities and some argue fans should be charged to take a photo as a way to give back to the community. Are the stairs free?

It may sound petty but it isn't a far fetched idea to charge tourists to take photos in front of a landmark. People dress up in New York's Times Square as animated characters such a Batman and charge folks for photos. And tourists are disturbing the flow of traffic so some believe they should pay up!

But on the other hand, the stairs are for the public so just taking a couple of photos can't do too much damage. Folks are excited because the movie is new but once the hype dies down the Bronx can hopefully enjoy their coveted stairs again, tourist-free.
