We're pitting 16 heavyweight champions of horror against each other all month long, and you decide who wins the grand prize! Last year, Chucky ran away with the whole thing, toppling Freddy Krueger, Pinhead, and Michael Myers for the crown of scariest horror icon ever.
Candyman, Ghostface, Pinhead, Leprechaun, the Babadook, Annabelle, Norman Bates and Pazuzu were all slaughtered in the first round. Still, it's anyone's game—with new contestants Jigsaw, the Creeper and Pennywise eyeing the haunted throne in our second round. Don't forget to cast your vote in our other head-to-head brawls below, and may the scariest monster win! 👻 🎃 😱
Jason Voorhees wasn't the original serial killer of "Friday the 13th," it was mother—Pamela Voorhees. Jason made his debut in the second film, wearing a sack over his face, finally donning his iconic hockey mask in "Part III." Jason became the juggernaut of horror movie monsters in the early '80s, with "Friday the 13th" spawning 10 sequels and a reboot. The "Friday the 13th" franchise has made more than $380 million domestically at the box office.
Jason drowned as a small child in 1957 at Camp Crystal Lake from negligence, as camp counselors were not watching him. After his mother goes on a killing spree both in the '50s and '80s to shut down the camp, Jason makes his grand return. It's simple—he wants to avenge the death of his mother after her head is chopped in the first film. And he does just that!
Jason Voorhees, over the course of the franchise, becomes an unstoppable killing machine. If you are a teenager on his lawn, and you are engaging in sexual activity, drugs or alcohol then you are as good as dead. It's especially over for you once you hear that "ki ki ki ma ma ma" sound effect and a twig break in the woods.
Jason was in direct competition with Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger in the '80s, but neither of the other horror icons could match him in number of sequels or total kills.
Watch Jason's top 10 kills below, according to WatchMojo.
The Creeper is an original character created by filmmaker Victor Salva, first appearing in the 2001 horror film "Jeepers Creepers." The film has spawned two sequels: "Jeepers Creepers 2" and "Jeepers Creepers 3." The franchise has grossed more than $125 million at the box office. The Creeper was selected by Tylters in our Facebook poll as the people's choice for this year's Monster Madness bracket.
Not much is known about the Creeper's origins, other than he's a cicada-like demon who feasts on humans for 23 days every 23 years. He's able to regenerate body parts by eating the identical body part of a victim, giving a whole new meaning to "an eye for an eye." Plus, he can fly. And unlike most horror icons, the Creeper is unafraid to take on police or other humans in public view and seems fond of dark humor.
The Creeper is big, fast, strong and mean. Good luck to anyone who dares to challenge him.
Here's the trailer for "Jeepers Creepers 3," which was distributed in limited release last month. Fans are hoping the latest installment will explain the origins of the Creeper.
