Jackie Chan's best movie franchise: 'Police Story' or 'Rush Hour'?
Chan's martial arts skills and stunt work made "Police Story" a success, and paved the way for Chan to eventually breakthrough to American audiences. The movie is inspired by the American TV series of the same name. Many successful sequels were also produced, including "Super Cop," which was part of Chan's mainstream breakthrough with U.S. audiences.

While Chan was already a well-known name in the U.S. prior to 1998, the commercial success of "Rush Hour" elevated recognition of the Hong Kong-born martial artist to a whole new level. Two sequels were produced and became even bigger box office hits. The series also created an "buddy comedy" formula Chan later leaned on for two commercially successful films with comedian Owen Wilson, "Shanghai Noon" and "Shanghai Knights."
