Is 'The Mummy' reboot worth seeing?

"The Mummy" reboot hits theater on June 9, and fans are excited for the movie that will set up Universal Pictures' Dark Universe franchise. The Dark Universe will feature other classic movie monsters—Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Invisible Man, Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster. On the other hand, film critics have panned the film; "The Mummy" has a 21 percent rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes so far. So, should anticipators of the Dark Universe really go see "The Mummy"? 🎤

Some critics aren't against the film that sets up an entire monster movie universe, even though it may not be the best film. Still, moviegoers might flock to the theaters just for this reason.

National Review's Kyle Smith writes:

The director, Alex Kurtzman, jolly well keeps things moving, so that even when nothing in the film made much sense, I was reasonably caught up in the ridiculousness.
