The internet was abuzz with the news of the 2020 Met Gala's theme around the duration of fashion through time. The iconic event will be celebrating its 150th year on May 7th, and attendees and fans alike are sure to be in for an unforgettable show.

Andrew Bolton, curator of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the man tasked to come up with the theme stated, “I wanted to do an exhibition focused on the collection, but not a traditional masterworks exhibition. Something that connects to the zeitgeist, and what people are talking about now.” Bolton's ideas led him to a single revelation: "It's about time."

How celebrities and fashion idols alike will interpret this theme will be the showcase of the century and cannot be missed!

Increasingly in recent years, the very existence of the Met Gala event has drawn criticism for being nothing more than a flagrant display of hedonism and narcissism. Especially in these times of political divisiveness and serious economic concern, the over-the-top annual fundraiser has been seen as a televised manifestation of the extreme classism that pervades this country. It might be fun for the to-do of Hollywood to don elaborate costumes and jewelry for a night, but as for the rest of us, it's just another Thursday.
