Is 'The Batman' movie doomed?
"The Batman" has gone through so many issues. First off, it's hard to make a great series of films following filmmaker Christopher Nolan and award-winning actor Christian Bale's "Dark Knight" trilogy.
Beyond that, Affleck stepped down as the director and was rumored to want out of the series, following the mixed reviews following "Batman v. Superman." Now his script has been scrapped, which is never a good sign. In many circles, studios would call this development hell.
Matt Reeves is fantastic, but can he really save this film after so many setbacks?
On the other hand, Affleck's performance in "Batman v. Superman" garnered praise, even though many critics (and fans) didn't like the film. But Affleck is one of the reasons why fans like the movie any at all.
And now that Reeves is set to direct fans have hope, especially following the success of his "Planet of the Apes" prequels. There was a trilogy nobody thought was going to be any good and Reeves, single-handled, managed to transform the IP into a blockbuster franchise.
