Prince was born on June 7, and would have been 59 years old. The Purple Family is still grieving, but are celebrating his legacy. Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton even enshrined June 7 asPrince Day" in 2016. But Prince didn't celebrate his birthday; he was a Jehovah's Witness, and they believe "such celebrations displease God." Some fans have argued in favor of respecting his beliefs by not celebrating "Prince Day." But others say celebrating his legacy isn't disrespectful. What do you think?

Prince told Rolling Stone in a 1999 interview:

"I don’t celebrate birthdays, so that stops me from counting days, which stops me from counting time," Prince begins, and then lapses into a silly voice, "which allows me to still look the same as I did 10 years ago."

But Metro Times wants to know exactly how everyone is going to honor the music legend. The publication complied a list of events, and wrote:

Like you, we can still hardly believe that we live in a world without the musical genius Prince Rogers Nelson. But it's his birthday, today, as he was born in 1958 in Minneapolis, Minn. on July 7. So naturally, we shall celebrate him all day. In addition to our own private remembrances and celebrations, we know of a handful of area events which pay tribute to the king:
