Is 'Chappelle's Show' better than Dave Chappelle's stand-up comedy?
"Chappelle's Show" became a phenomenon—a phenomenon that Dave ultimately decided to step away from, but it will forever be cemented into pop culture and Dave's legacy.
The sketch comedy show might be the greatest thing Dave will ever be known for, and that's saying a lot. Dave is still a very popular stand-up comedian to this day—even after stepping away from the limelight for years. But his show hilariously tackled American culture with a variety of topics, crossing over into race, gender, politics and celebrity life.
Watch one of his laugh-out-loud sketches, "Black Bush," below.
Rolling Stone ranked Dave at #9 on its "50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time" list, and his stand-up comedy has been praised by other comedic greats like Katt Williams and Kevin Hart. His comedy tours and stand-up specials, including "Dave Chappelle: For What It's Worth," "Deep in the Heart of Texas: Dave Chappelle Live at Austin City Limits" and "The Age of Spin: Dave Chappelle Live at the Hollywood Palladium," have all been met with incredible success since Dave's much-publicized return.
"Chappelle's Show" was a big moment for Dave, but it wasn't his only moment that matters and in the greater scheme of things, it's arguably not his greatest.
