Iron Man's successor is Ironheart. Do you like her codename? | The Tylt
The Internet blew up when Marvel revealed a 15-year-old black girl from Chicago named Riri Williams would be taking over the Iron Man moniker. But now the character has her own superhero codename in the comics: Ironheart. While some think her new codename is awesome, others still don't think it's the right fit. And because some superheroes change codenames—rally, vote and tell us: Is #IronheartBadass as Riri's codename, or do you think #IronheartSucks?
Iron Man's successor is Ironheart. Do you like her codename?
Marvel decided against Iron Woman because it's too stuffy. They also decided against Iron Maiden for legal reasons, but settled for Ironheart, which is the name of a character from a 2014 Japanese porn parody. Some are taking offense to naming a hero after a pornographic character! For some, Riri still lacks her own distinctive name.
But some fans think her name is awesome, and it sets her apart from Iron Man... finally!
I'm glad Riri is using her own name. Ironheart doesn't sound too bad.— Greatest Virgo (@SageTerrence) August 22, 2016
Thank goodness it's not plain 'ol "Iron Woman."
Ironheart is a great name for a character. Good on Marvel for not calling her "Iron Woman".— Derrick Rose Quartz (@rickydreamboat) August 23, 2016
Some say she's even more badass than Tony Stark. W00t!
Hot take, Ironheart is 1000% a more badass name than Iron Man— Victoria McNally (@vqnerdballs) August 22, 2016
Eh, maybe not. Critics say Riri's codename isn't powerful enough.
Haha... good point. Maybe, Ironheart isn't the best codename for Riri.
Ironheart, ooh lord...that sounds like one of those bad 90's sword and sorcery movies.— Kyle (@kylepinion) August 22, 2016
