iHeartRadio Male Artist of the Year: Drake or The Weeknd? | The Tylt
iHeartRadio Male Artist of the Year: Drake or The Weeknd?
On March 5, the 4th Annual iHeartRadio Music Awards is honoring the best music artists popularly heard across radio stations throughout the year. And the Tylt is predicting the winners in the "Artist of the Year" categories in a series of iHeart brackets. The fellas nominated for Male of the Year are some of the best artists in the music game. (Unfortunately, we had to leave off a nominee in this bracket—Luke Bryan.) Other nominees Drake, the Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes all had some of the biggest pop tunes that not only ruled the Billboard charts, but also dominated iHeart's airwaves in 2016.
Check out the rest of our "Male Artist of the Year" bracket:
Drake and the Weeknd dominated hip-hop/R&B and urban contemporary radio airwaves in 2016. But who deserves to win Male Artist of the Year?
"Hotline Bling," "One Dance," "Work," "Pop Style," "Controlla" and "Fake Love." Need we say more? "Views" is the second-biggest album of 2016—resulting in a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. Drake is the male artist of the year.
But the Weeknd's success from 2015 carried over into 2016 (before releasing yet another album later in the year). He scored another #1 hit single and album—both titled "Starboy" in 2016. And let's not forget, he lost the iHeartRadio award last year, so this year might make up for that.
After all, Drake has the most nods. Easy win for him?
