Should Disney give Elsa a girlfriend? | The Tylt
Menzel told ET at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night:
“I think it’s great," in response to the campaign. “Disney’s just gotta contend with that. I’ll let them figure that out.” When asked if she’d support the decision if it were to happen, Menzel responded: “No matter what,” as the character “changed my life.”
Should Disney give Elsa a girlfriend in Frozen 2?
Twitter user Alexis Isabel Moncada started the campaign on Twitter — stating that a lesbian romance would be iconic and progressive step in the right direction for Disney. The campaign took off with many fans in support of a female love interest for Elsa. Now with Menzel's support, there's no plans to let it go.
Conservatives and critics, of course, don't agree — creating the counter hashtag and Act Right petition #DontGiveElsaAGirlfriend. However, part of the larger counter-argument include fans who are against giving Elsa a girlfriend OR a boyfriend – claiming Frozen is about sisterhood rather than princesses having romances and falling in love. They would prefer for Elsa to remain single and empowered.
What do you think: #GiveElsaAGirlfriend or #DontGiveElsaGirlfriend?
