Some detractors argue it doesn't matter who produces the film because making a movie so soon after the tragedy occurred is in poor taste. Critics are concerned with the intentions of the producers and say it must be all about money.
Making a movie about the Thai cave rescue is distasteful and clearly opportunistic. I don't think it does any justice to the trauma that the victims suffered. Also, I bet they won't see a dime of the profits.
But Director Jon M. Chu says he wants to recreate the tragedy before it is whitewashed by Hollywood. Twitter users are cracking jokes, saying that if Michael Scott makes the film then the entire cast will be white.
I refuse to let Hollywood #whitewashout the Thai Cave rescue story! No way. Not on our watch. That won’t happen or we’ll give them hell. There’s a beautiful story abt human beings saving other human beings. So anyone thinking abt the story better approach it right & respectfully.
