Fave psychotic antihero: Harley Quinn or Deadpool? | The Tylt
Superheroes are so goody-goody sometimes. Okay, Captain America, we get that you don’t swear. And Wonder Woman isn't big on lying. We’re about people saving the day and all, but God, have a bit of an edge! Thank goodness we have a bevy of particularly crazy antiheroes to choose from. Take that nut Harley Quinn, the Joker’s just as psychotic (if not more so) partner. Or Deadpool, whose crimefighting tactics tend to be more criminal than the criminals themselves. Which is your favorite?
Fave psychotic antihero: Harley Quinn or Deadpool?
Harley Quinn is charming AF. Well, as charming as charming a Jigglypuff wrapped in barbed wire. As adorable and peppy as she is, she’s equally as volatile and violent as her beloved Mr. J. You may not take her seriously because she wears pigtails and carries a comically gigantic whack-a-mole hammer, but geez, have you seen her swing that thing?
Deep down, Harley is also one of the most relatable characters to come out of the DC Universe. She’s feeling all of our feelings multiplied: sorrow, passion, anger. Harley Quinn openly feels what everyone has felt at one point in their life, turned up to 11. Maybe we should all express ourselves a little more the way she does. Or just invest in a pet hyena.
Deadpool has gone where no Marvel character has gone before, which, honestly, is a lot of places. He likes to hang out at mercenary bars and play skeeball with women just as wild as he. He’s also died a couple of times, gleefully embracing death as if it were a deliciously stuffed chimichanga.
In a sea full of Marvel do-gooders, Deadpool was a breath of fresh air. Here was finally a dude that played as dirty as the villains he was going up against. He wasn’t a soppy team player, someone who cries for justice while thrusting the symbol on his chest out like some virtue-signaling rooster. Nah—Wade Wilson is all about violent gains through violent means. Just imagine if he and Harley somehow joined forces.
