Ricky Martin led the Latin pop takeover with the iconic #1 hit "Livin' La Vida Loca."

Billboard's Suzette Fernandez wrote that Ricky is one of the top Latin artists to dominate the Hot 100:

Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin has been one of the Latin acts to conquer the Billboard Hot 100. His first single to appear on the chart was his smash hit "María," which peaked at No. 88 in 1996. However, it wasn't until 1999 that Martin crowned the chart for the first time with "Livin' La Vida Loca" (chart dated May 8, 1999), dethroning Jennifer Lopez, who was leading with “If You Had My Love.”
