There is something special about Historically Black Colleges and Universities. "Drumline" and "Stomp the Yard" honed in on the HBCU culture and gave the world a glimpse of obstacles college kids face. "Drumline" starred comedian Nick Cannon. The actor put his jokes aside to play a Harlem street drummer who heads down south to play in a marching band. "Stomp the Yard" starred Columbus Short who played a young kid that heads South for College and finds solace in a fraternity step team after his brother is killed. Which HBCU film is your favorite?

"Drumline" hit theaters in 2002 and features a star-studded cast from Zoe Saldana to Orlando Jones. The film was one of Cannon's first roles and showcased his diversity as an actor. He went through extensive training to learn how to play the drums and says it took a physical toll him. But despite the hardship, he mastered the skill and gave an impressive performance. "Stomp the Yard" gave viewers an inside look into the experience of Black fraternities and sororities. The film took inspiration from nine historical Black Fraternities and Sororities known as The Divine Nine. And the film showed off an unique style of interpretive dance they created known as "stepping," which has been adapted by other cultures across the world. Take a look at the cast get down below.
