Fans were blown away by the finale of HBO's "Big Little Lies," but they may not have to wait long for more. The HBO murder mystery is adapted from Liane Moriarty's book of the same name and the novelist says she is pursuing new storyline ideas for a possible second season. While some fans are ready for season two, others worry Hollywood has a tendency to milk the life out of any TV show or miniseries. There's only one book, and let's leave it alone. I have started to think about ways this could continue. The producers have asked me to see if I can come up with some ideas. I wouldn't write a new book but perhaps a new story and then we'll see what happens.
Variety's Joanna Roberson writes about the possibility of season two, but argues it's Hollywood's trend to turn everything into an extended series or franchise.
This trend of unnecessary second seasons—like the many bodies littering Big Little Lies, 13 Reasons Why, and The Night Of—needs to be buried. Deep.
