Do we really need a remake of the classic rom-com 'Splash'? | The Tylt
Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell will star in a remake of the classic romantic comedy Splash, which originally starred Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah as his mermaid love interest. But this time around Channing will be a merman and Bell will play Tom's role. While many fans are excited about the upcoming movie, others don't want the 1984 classic to be added to the endless list of remakes and reboots.

Two great actors starring alongside one another.

And switching the male and female leads in the remake is a progressive move.
I know we are all very excited for Channing Aquaria Potatum but Jillian Bell is hilarious and will be a great lady Tom Hanks— #PRAY4KERSHAW (@babyseager) August 1, 2016

If the original is your favorite, you are probably not happy about this news.
