I never would have taken the bet that the seventh film in the franchise would be one of its best, but here we are. With a 91-minute runtime, pound for pound and kill for kill, Chucky is finally stabbing well above his weight class. All these years later, Chucky may just prove to be more durable, creative, and fun than the big guys who kept him down.
Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one suspect: John Kramer, the man known as Jigsaw, who has been dead for ten years.
Though the traps aren't all that inventively designed this time round, it's mainly business as usual; the pieces of the puzzle cunningly come together via tape recorders, screaming victims and the obligatory closing flashback sequence. Hardcore fans should be delighted even if this reboot won't entice haters of the game.
