Which anime has the best theme: ‘Cowboy Bebop’ or ‘Attack on Titan’? | The Tylt
Anime theme songs range from orchestral drama to hard rock to super-cheesy romantic idealism. While many shows have great music, two of the very best are the ultra-cool jazz of “Tank!” and the massive excitement of “Shingeki no kyojin.” Ok, three, two, one, let’s jam. Which anime theme is best?
Which anime has the best theme: ‘Cowboy Bebop’ or ‘Attack on Titan’?
Ever since the early days of shows such as “Astro Boy,” “Speed Racer” and “Science Ninja Team Gatchaman,” theme songs have been a crucial part of what makes anime so much fun. The best songs are exciting, emotion-driven and immersive, hyping the viewer up for what is to come. The match the tone of the show itself.
One of the many traits that makes "Cowboy Bebop" so engaging is composer Yoko Kanno’s incredible variety of music. All of her songs suit the moods of the show from comedy to action to general adorable quirkiness. But the theme, “Tank!” (performed by the Seatbelts) stands out as the perfect intro. It’s brassy, bass-heavy and basically bad-ass.
The extremely violent action of “Attack on Titan” requires a theme song equally large and filled with adrenaline. Composer Hiroyuki Sawano absolutely delivers (multiple times, though we are talking about the season one theme specifically) with a massive wall of sound and fury, mixing orchestration, pop, and metal in a relentless wave.
