CNCO and CD9 are today's rising Latin pop boy bands. Both groups are made up of five members who all sing or dance in sync. CD9 is a Mexican boy band that has put in the work; they released "The Party" EP independently in 2013 before being signing with Sony Music México and releasing chart topping LPs "CD9" and "EVOLUTION." CNCO made their breakthrough in 2016 with "Primera Cita," winning Teen Choice and Billboard Music Awards the following year. Who is the top Latin pop boy band of 2017? 🎤

The Votes Are In!

CNCO is new to the scene and has already made a mega impact in the Latin American pop game. The band was created by Simon Cowell and Ricky Martin, the latter being a former member of iconic Latin pop boy band Menudo. Under Martin's mentorship, CNCO was destined for success.

CNCO formed on the Latin music competition show "La Banda's" the first season finale Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colón, Zabdiel De Jesús, Joel Pimentel and Christopher Vélez all competed individually before they formed a boy band where members sing and dance in unison.

CNCO built their following, known as the CNCOwners, through the show and touring with Ricky. They made their debut in 2016 with their breakthrough LP "Primera Cita" in 2016. The album features the smash banger "Reggaetón Lento (Bailemos)," which peaked at #6 on the Latin pop charts and spun a remix featuring the U.K.'s top girl group Little Mix. The music video for the single recently gained more than 1 billion views on YouTube, a huge feat for any boy band.

Below are some significant lyrics to "Reggaetón Lento (Bailemos)," per Genius.

🎶 I know you like it when I take you to the floor. I know you like this reggaetón lento. This is happend baby till I say so. Come get - come get some more.🎶

"Primera Cita" topped the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart in 2016. The album not only features the Reggaeton-Latin pop smash "Reggaetón Lento (Bailemos)," but Latin pop hits "Tan Fácil" and "Quisiera." Billboard named "Primera Cita" the sixth biggest Latin pop album of 2016.

CNCO is definitely the breakout Latin pop act of 2016, and the band's success carried over into 2017. The group won New Artist of the Year, Latin Pop Songs Artist of the Year—Duo or Group, and Latin Pop Albums Artist of the Year—Duo or Group at the 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards. They also won the 2017 Teen Choice Award for Choice Latin Artist. It's safe to say CNCO is unstoppable, and they are setting out to take over the world.

CD9 didn't have a hit TV music competition show to push their popularity. The boy band first named themselves CD9 in reference to Code 9, which means to change the topic of conversation. Therefore, for the jump, the boy band was willing to put in the work. They put in this work the old fashion way and built up a fan army over time—the Coders. The group has risen up the Latin pop ranks year after year.

The band did what many artists do before being signed to a major record label nowadays, they released music independently. The band was originally made up of Jos Canela, Freddy Leyva, Alan Navarro, Alonso Villalpando and William Valdés, the latter was replaced by Bryan Mouque around the time the band was signed to Sony Music México in 2013. But before they were signed they released "The Party," a collection of different mixes of their breakthrough song of the same name.

The group released their self-titled album in 2014, which debuted atop the charts in México and garnered certifications from AMPROFON. The sophomore LP "EVOLUTION" followed in 2016, and it features the English-language Latin hit "I Feel Alive," highlighting off the bands' crossover American appeal. By 2016, they went from an independent Mexican boy band to a Spanglish-singing supergroup based in Latin America.

Below are some notable lyrics to "I Feel Alive," per Genius.

🎶 Time is bittersweet. It keeps you on your feet. Like a never ending song. Gives rhythm to your soul. Sometimes we loose control. Sometimes we fall in love. Sorry Mr. Tragedy. I can't make it to the phone.🎶

CD9's sophomore LP "EVOLUTION" also topped AMPROFON in 2016. And that's exactly what the album did—it showed the band's evolution. The album not only features the English version of "I Feel Alive," but other hits like the Latin pop-rock "Déjà Vu" and the Latin-pop ballad "A Tu Lado."

The album perfectly blends English and Spanish songs as well as pop-rock and dance sounds, giving the band an even more international pop appeal. And we all know that international pop appeal is crucial to any boy band looking toward world domination.
