Grammys Best Urban Contemporary Album: ‘Awaken, My Love’ or ‘Starboy’? | The Tylt
Grammys Best Urban Contemporary Album: ‘Awaken, My Love’ or ‘Starboy’?
It's Grammys season! And the Tylt is facing-off the best song performances, albums, and artists in the top genre categories. The "Grammy face-offs" are chosen by a combination of popularity, impact, acclaim, rankings, and sales. But ultimately with our head-to-head predictions, we want you to let us know who and what deserves to win in each category—before the Grammys air on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
There's a chance that neither Childish Gambino nor the Weeknd will win. They are in very stiff competition with SZA and Khalid, both of whom released highly acclaimed debut records. But Gambino and Weeknd are both seasoned—so, who will win?
And don't forget to cast your vote for the rest of Grammy debates:
Gambino didn't shy away from hip-hop. "Awaken, My Love" is filled with soulful gems, also incorporating funk and rock into his experimental sound. And unlike the other nominees, Gambino is also nominated for Album of the Year. He may not win the top honor, but he's almost a sure bet here, even with stiff competition.
The Weeknd went from alternative R&B artist to pop star in just a few short years. His come up is so real and his third studio album "Starboy" was a commercial success, debuting atop the Billboard 200. The album is now certified Double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
