Must have fall jacket for men: bomber or denim?

Hey fellas, fall is upon us. So it's time to pull out those fall jackets. Any man can pull off a bomber jacket or a denim jacket, and they are both closet necessity items. A bomber jacket is the perfect example of a trendy yet multi-functional item. It's a sports piece, but can be dressed up really nicely. Men's denim jackets will always be in style. They look great layered or simply over a tee. Which look are you going for this fall?

Wardrobe can be tricky, especially for guys who couldn't care less about fashion. But the secret to great style is simple, and it only includes owning a few basic items and a bomber jacket is one of them. The Trend Spotter said a bomber jacket is one of the coolest things a man can wear for a great rugged look.

A bomber jacket is a short and durable jacket featuring a fitted or elastic waist and cuffs. Also known as a flight jacket, the style was initially worn by flight crew members of the US Air Force. Today, however, the bomber is a favourite amongst men of all occupations thanks to its stylish and casual appearance. Pick one up in leather, nylon or wool for a rugged look that works perfectly on the weekend.

A denim jacket is probably the most American thing you can wear, and it can make you look like a trendsetter without really trying. A men's denim jacket can be worn basically anywhere. According to GQ, the breathable fabric works day or night.

The great thing about a denim jacket is that – with the exception of a black-tie dinner – it's the sort of genuinely wear-anywhere item you can dress up or dress down as required. The advantage of denim, being a cotton, is that it's a fairly breathable fabric – so long as you don't choose one that's too heavy. Pick something relatively light, perhaps with a little elastane added for extra movement, and you can wear it comfortably with a T-shirt and shorts when the mercury hits the mid-twenties – especially good for someone like me who's so achingly British that I feel genuinely uncomfortable without a jacket, even on the warmest day of the year.
