The tradition of music and dance in Indian theater predates the film industry, but history or no, Bollywood wouldn’t be Bollywood without lavish, lively dance routines. But what movie has the best dance sequence? We pair off two famous choreographed songs, "Chaiyya Chaiyya" and "Dola Re Dola." That both come from Shah Rukh Khan movies is, of course, coincidence. Maybe. Which one makes you want to dance?

No matter how serious or silly the film, they dance and sing. They sing in the street. They sing in the rain. They sing in the heat on the top of a train (see below).

A 2002 poll found that “Chaiyya Chaiyya” ranked in the top 10 favorite songs worldwide. The song is based on a Sufi folksong and appears in the 1998 film “Dil Se.” But who cares about all that? What matters is that this dance, featuring Malaika Arora Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, was choreographed on the top of a moving train.

Sure, this number might not be as physically complex as some other dances, but it’s on a freakin’ train. The performance is audacious, inventive and a lot of fun.

Dola Re Dola from the 2002 hit "Devdas" showcases the glamor and beauty of Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit. You really can’t go wrong with that combination. The scene is elegant, colorful and lush, and the two move so gracefully you might lose sight of how complex and demanding the dance is.

Apparently, Aish’s earrings were so heavy her ears bled during filming but it wouldn’t stop her.
