Best New Artist: Chance the Rapper or The Chainsmokers?
It's Grammys season! And the Tylt is facing-off the best song performances, albums and artists in the top genre categories. The "Grammy face-offs" are chosen by a combination of popularity, impact, acclaim, rankings and/or amount sold. But ultimately with our head-to-head predictions, we want you to let us know who and what deserves to win in each category—before the Grammys air on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. ET.
Chance has the acclaim, but the Chainsmokers have the popularity. Which act will win the Grammy for Best New Artist?
On the other hand, Chance is one of the most acclaimed artists of 2016 thanks to "Coloring Book." While many believe Chance was snubbed for Album of the Year—his acclaim makes him a frontrunner to win Best New Artist, which is the fourth biggest award an artist can win on Grammy night. Beyoncé and Adele are facing off for the other three major awards: Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year. But many believe Chance has Best New Artist in the bag.
The Chainsmokers might have been around for years, but the group really blew up in 2016 with hits "Don't Let Me Down" and #1 smash "Closer." Both singles are two of the top 10 hits of 2016. And the group's fanbase has been surging with each hit! The Chainsmokers' popularity could snatch this award away from Chance.
Critics aren't taking the Chainsmokers seriously over Chance.
if the Chainsmokers beat out Anderson .Paak and Chance for best new artist, i'm swearing off the Grammys for life
