Who's the most iconic superhero: Batman or Superman?
Let's be honest—Batman is much more interesting than Superman. Supes lost his parents too, but he was just a baby. Bruce Wayne witnessed his parents murder, leading him on a path of justice and vigilantism. Many heroes in both the DC and Marvel universes lost loved ones or experienced tragedies in their lives—a trope popularized by Batman's origins story.
The Dark Knight has many layers (and the most iconic villains) that have kept him relevant longer than most superheroes. Batman is arguably the most successful superhero ever. The character has been a constant presence in the media throughout the years, featured in live action and animated TV shows and blockbuster films for nearly 80 years.

Superman doesn't have to be as layered as Batman. It's simple; he's a symbol of hope that many comic book fans identify with. Supes is the grandfather of superheroes. In fact, superheroes might not have existed without the creation of Superman. Maybe they would have, but he influenced the aesthetic of costumed heroics—especially the blue and red color schemes, and the superhero symbol on the chest.
The Man of Steel is typically portrayed as the most powerful hero. And with all his power—he's remained one of the best good guys ever. Superman represents hope alright, but he also represents "truth, justice, and the American way."
