Adele and Sam Smith are revered U.K. superstars, converging pop and soul into a soft adult contemporary sound. It was Adele's raspy, deep and powerful vocals that turned her into an international phenomenon. Her albums "21" and "25" are Diamond-certified by the Recording Industry Association of America. Sam is known for his smooth vocals. He broke out with pop hit "Stay with Me," featured on his Grammy-winning debut album "In the Lonely Hour." So, who's your favorite U.K. pop-soul singer? 🎤

Adele rose to prominence in 2008 with her internationally successful hit "Chasing Pavements," which is the second single from her critically acclaimed debut album "19." "Chasing Pavements" is regarded as Adele's first entry in the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S., peaking at #21. It's also the single that turned Adele into a respected pop-soul singer. The bluesy pop song is based on Adele's experience with an ex-boyfriend who cheated on her. Initially, some Americans thought the song was about her chasing after gay men. But Adele confirmed the song is about whether or not to pursue a relationship with an attractive guy. The smash is sampled in Machine Gun Kelly's song of the same name.

Adele not only garnered her first commercially-successful single, she won many accolades. "Chasing Pavements" turned Adele into a Grammy Award-winning queen. The song was nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards, but she won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Adele also walked away with Best New Artist.

Below are some notable lyrics, per Genius

🎶 Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements? Even if it leads nowhere? Or would it be a waste even if I knew my place. Should I leave it there?Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements? Even if it leads nowhere?🎶

Sam rose to prominence as a featured artist on house duo Disclosure's "Latch" in 2012. The single peaked at #11 on the U.K. Singles Chart in 2012. The song eventually became a hit in the United States. In 2014, "Latch" peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is about falling deeply in love with someone and that crazy feeling that takes over you.

Sam was initially hesitant to be featured on the track because he's not a house, electronic or dance artist. But the song remained relevant two years after its original release, just around the time Sam started to blow up in the U.S. The magic on "Latch" was real; the smash led to future collaboration "Omen" between Sam and Disclosure. Although Sam would become known as "Boy Adele," the song definitely showed the versatility in his vocal range. Some fans argue would argue his vocal range is even wider than Adele's range.

Below are some significant lyrics to "Latch," per Genius

🎶 I feel we're close enough. I wanna lock in your love. I think we're close enough. Could I lock in your love, baby?🎶
🎶 Now I've got you in my space. I won't let go of you. Got you shackled in my embrace. I'm latching on to you.🎶

We all thought Adele's debut album was big in the late '00s, but we hadn't seen anything yet. Her sophomore album "21" is led by the mega-smash "Rolling in the Deep." The single not only topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 2011 but according to Billboard, it became the biggest hot 100 song of the year

"Rolling in the Deep" won Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Short Form Music Video at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain" also topped the Hot 100; the former received the first Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance in 2012.

Below are some notable lyrics to "Rolling in the Deep," per Genius

🎶 We could have had it all. (You're gonna wish you never had met me). Rolling in the deep. (Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep). You had my heart inside of your hand. (You're gonna wish you never had met me).And you played it to the beat. (Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep).🎶

"21" was a mega success for Adele—perfectly mixing soul, R&B, blues and pop. The album topped the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart for several weeks and became the most successful LP of 2011. Like her emotive first album, the sophomore effort was inspired by a recently failed relationship and heartbreak. '"21" scored three #1 pop hits—"Rolling in the Deep," "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain."

The LP is Diamond-certified by the Recording Industry Association of America for selling more than 10 copies in the U.S. So it comes as no surprise "21" won Album of the Year at the 2012 Grammys. Listen to Adele's magnum opus "21" below.

While "Latch" jump-started Sam's career, "Stay with Me" turned Sam into an international pop-soul superstar. The single topped the U.K. Singles Chart and peaked at #2 on the Hot 100 in 2014. The soulful pop ballad also features gospel elements.

"Stay with Me" details the emotions behind an one night stand. Sam won Grammys for Song of the Year and Record of the Year for the "Stay with Me (Darkchild Version)" at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, following in Adele's footsteps. Also like Adele, Sam won Best New Artist at the Grammys in 2015. Although he has publicly said the comparisons annoy him, fans see similarities in both their sounds and successes. Others simply prefer his soft and smoother vocal range over Adele's rich and raspier tone.

Below are some significant lyrics to "Stay with Me," per Genius.

🎶 Guess it's true, I'm not good at a one-night stand. But I still need love cause I'm just a man. These nights never seem to go to plan. I don't want you to leave, will you hold my hand?🎶
🎶 Oh won't you stay with me? Cause you're all I need. This ain't love, it's clear to see. But darling, stay with me.🎶

"In the Lonely Hour" topped the U.K. Albums Chart and peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200. Sam's favorable debut album won Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys in 2015. The album was also nominated for Album of the Year. "In the Lonely Hour" also features hits "Lay Me Down" and "Money on My Mind." Sam later re-leased the multi-platinum album with 12 new tracks in late 2015. Listen to "In the Lonely Hour (Drowning Shadows Edition)" below.

Adele went on a musical hiatus after the success of "21" in 2012. But before she went on hiatus, she released "Skyfall," the theme for the James Bond movie of the same name. "Skyfall" won Best Original Song at the 85th Academy Awards.

She made her grand return with "Hello" in 2015, the lead single off of praised follow-up album "25." "Hello" topped the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the biggest songs of 2016. The song is about reflecting on the past and trying to fix mistakes made in a previous relationship. The single won Adele Record of the Year and Song of the Year at 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

"25" wasn't another breakup album. Instead, it has been referred to as a "make-up album"—focusing on themes of clearing the air, growth and moving on. The album topped the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart for several weeks. "25" became Adele's second consecutive album to become certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album won Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year at the Grammys in 2017.

Below are some notable lyrics to "Hello," per Genius

🎶 Hello from the other side. I must've called a thousand times. To tell you I'm sorry. For everything that I've done. But when I call, you never seem to be home. Hello from the outside. At least I can say that I've tried. To tell you I'm sorry, for breaking your heart. But it don't matter. It clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore.🎶

Like Adele, Sam won an Oscar. Sam won Best Original Song in 2016 for "Writing's on the Wall," which is the theme song of 007 film "Spectre." After a few features in the last two years, Sam dropped the orchestral pop ballad "Too Good at Goodbyes" in September 2017. The single peaked at #5 on the Hot 100 and leads his new sophomore album "The Thrill of It All."

"Too Good at Goodbyes" is one of four songs Sam says is about him on his newest LP. The smash details a tumultuous personal relationship. Sam confirmed the album will focus more on trials and tribulations of friends and family rather than his own.

Below are some significant lyrics to "Too Good at Goodbyes," per Genius

🎶 But every time you hurt me, the less that I cry. And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry. And every time you walk out, the less I love you. Baby, we don't stand a chance, it's sad but it's true.🎶
