Has '60 Minutes' become insensitive?

"60 Minutes" has Twitter in a tizzy over its latest episode. The long-running CBS program recently aired the story of Eddie Gallagher the Navy SEAL who was accused of murdering a war prisoner. With the help of Donald Trump, Gallagher was acquitted on all charges but the Navy SEAL has a history of violence and inappropriate behavior so by telling his story some viewers are calling "60 Minutes" out for glorifying a war criminal. Was "60 Minutes" wrong?

This isn't the first time "60 Minutes" has been called out. The series has prompted a few online petitions calling for its cancelation. Some say the show is insensitive to certain issues and needs to be more cautious about the stories they choose to share.

But critics say the show is about journalism and not fluff. They believe the program is doing its due diligence by reporting on all types of stories and not just stories that everyone one will agree with.
