2019 Oscars Best Actress: Glenn Close or Lady Gaga?
With our head-to-head predictions, we want you to let us know who and what deserves to win in each category before the 2019 Academy Awards air on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. EST.
And don't forget to cast your vote for the rest of our Oscar debates:
Glenn Close plays Joan Castleman, a woman who questions her path as a wife to a man who's about to receive a Nobel Prize for Literature in "The Wife." While Close's Best Actress nod is the only nomination for "The Wife," she is regarded as the frontrunner to win. The veteran actress has seven nominations under her belt, but no wins. This is shaping out to be her year.
Lady Gaga plays Ally, a rising singer/songwriter/pop star who is discovered by and falls in love with the self-destructive singer-songwriter Jackson "Jack" Maine in "A Star Is Born." Gaga and Close shared a split win for Best Actress at the SAG Awards.
While "Shallow" is the frontrunner to Best Original Song, the race for Best Actress is tight. But pop stars have won Oscars in the past. Cher beat out Close at the 1988 Academy Awards, and history could repeat itself 31 years later.
