Picture this: you're watching the newest flick at your local multiplex, bag of popcorn in hand. You think to yourself, "Hey, I think I'm pretty well done with this snack, I'm going to just lay it aside." You put the bag of buttery corn on the sticky movie theater floor. But wait! Later in the movie, you realize you're still hungry for a snack. Do you pick the popcorn back up and keep eating, even though it's been marinating in whatever is on the floor, or leave it and move on with your life? What would you do?

You deserve clean popcorn! Popcorn bags are permeable—crumbs slip out of cracks, butter pools at the bottom in big wet slicks. There's no way that thin paper is keeping all of the germs and grime on the movie theater floor out of your sweet, sweet corn. By putting the popcorn on the ground, you're basically rubbing your popcorn on the bottom of everyone's shoes. It's just marinating in filth.

Just keep it on your lap until you know for certain you're done with it. It's cleaner and easier to reach!

The bag is there to keep germs out! It's covered in wax and glue for a reason. That layer is all you need to make sure your corn isn't getting contaminated. Let's be honest, the seats in movie theaters are way more disgusting than the floor is. If you're that worried about your popcorn getting germy, you shouldn't go to movie theaters at all.
