Should you talk about politics with family during the holidays?

Politics seeped into every aspect of life in 2017. Some people are trying to make it a point to avoid politics altogether because they don't want their family dinner to end with a fork in someone's thigh. But for others, the holidays is the perfect time to trigger their right wing uncle or try to get under the skin of their bleeding-heart liberal parents. What do you think? 😡

Some people just want to watch the world burn. This has been a frustrating year for everyone on the political spectrum. Democrats continue to be in awe of how stupid and cruel the Trump administration can be. Republicans see witch hunts and obstruction at every turn in D.C. Basically, things have never been greater for debating politics.

Republicans can talk about "corrupt" Liberal Hollywood, whether Bill Clinton is guilty of sexual assault (it's back!), and how Antifa is going to murder all of America. Democrats can talk about the endless Trump administration hijinks, the Russia investigation or spineless Republicans. There's something for everyone!

There's nothing good that will come out of talking about politics right now. If anything, it's more likely to do more damage than good. People on both sides of the aisle are frustrated and angry. Chances are even without the politics, things might be getting a little tense in the family living room.

Bringing up politics is worse than throwing gasoline on a fire. It's more like seeing your house already soaked in gasoline and deciding to light a match and walk in anyway. It's gonna blow up in your face. Someone might literally die. Don't bring up politics. Just say no.
