The Internet is joining in solidarity with Rick Sanchez to demand McDonald's bring back its McNugget Szechuan sauce after nearly 20 years, original released as a promotional tie-in with the 1998 Disney movie "Mulan." Following the Season 3 premiere of "Rick and Morty," fans created a Change.org petition telling McD's to bring the sauce back (it now has 14,000 signatures and counting). McDonald's can either bring back the sauce, or break the collective heart of millions of fans. What should McDonald's do?

So far, McDonald's has not directly responded to demands. 🤔

Rick and Morty fans want justice for Rick. If you don't get why fans are fighting on his behalf, see Rick explain things to Morty, and then join the fight for the sauce. #NineMoreSeaonsUntilRickGetsHisSzechuanSauce

Unfortunately, the Outline is shitting on everyone' dreams. McDonald's might not have the authority to bring it back—it's Disney's call. This obviously complicates the issue even further, and Rick may never get his sauce. 😞

There is one potential wrinkle. The original sauce was part of a Disney marketing push, along with Happy Meal toys — “eight large and colorful action figures based on characters from the movie” — as well as themed packaging “including cartons shaped like Chinese restaurant takeout boxes for 6-piece and 20-piece Chicken McNuggets.” While the sauce itself did not have Disney branding, the fact that it was connected to an advertising deal could mean that Disney might need to be consulted on any sort of sauce revival.

Also, why would McDonald's bring back a condiment for some animated cartoon? This is a cartoon. Grow up, people. In the 20 years since McD's Szechuan sauce, the world has discovered Sriracha!

Plus, the sauce made everyone diabetic.
