Is it better to open presents Christmas Eve or Christmas day?
Santa Claus visits houses around the world the night before Christmas, so it only makes sense to open gifts on Christmas morning, after Santa has left and the toys are waiting beneath the tree. Per the Cut's Kelly Conaboy
Presents should be opened on Christmas morning. This is obvious. You don’t wait around all year just to undercut the the gift-giving portion of Christmas. Why have it a few hours early? Relax …
But some say it's better to open gifts from friends and family on Christmas Eve. There's no harm in getting a head start, plus, you have to make room for Santa!
There are some traditions you simply don't mess with. Opening gifts on Christmas morning is one of them.
But why limit Christmas presents to just one day? Everyone has their own traditions, and according to Atlas Obscura's Eric Grundhauser, there are plenty of ways to go about opening gifts:
Some people wait until Christmas Day to distribute and open presents, while others are used to opening their gifts on Christmas Eve (a common German tradition). Still others split up the presents, opening a few on Christmas Eve, and the rest on Christmas Day, or even New Year’s Eve. Some people exchange gifts on a separate day entirely.
