Part of what makes office holiday parties the worst is that they’re usually after a workday. So, on top of your normal shift, you either go home late or race back to see your co-workers again. Some people say the best compromise is to have holiday office parties on the weekend. Others absolutely hate the idea of spending any of their personal time at a company event. Holiday office parties can be great fun but having them on the weekend is asking for way too much. What do you think? 🎊

Having the office party on the weekend makes it easier for everyone involved. People don’t have to worry about hustling from work to the venue. The people in charge of the holiday party have more time to get things together and they don’t have to worry about their day job at the same time. It’s less stress and all fun!

But for many the idea of having the holiday office party is sacrosanct. Does this country no longer respect the concept of time off? Far too many labor activists gave their blood sweat and tears for this to happen. Your time is your time — even if it’s a fun office thing. No one should be obliged to hang out with their coworkers and bosses during their time off.
