Some appreciate the ritual of lathering themselves up with lotions and tonics, while others say nightly skincare is needlessly complicated. What do you think?

There's a reason nighttime and daytime care are separate. Per beauty site Byrdie

During the night, your skin actually absorbs the nutrients in your products better than during the daytime, according to Parvaneh Rafaeloff, MD, medical doctor at Le Jolie Medi Spa. "Additionally, there aren't environmental stressors at night (like environmental pollution and sun damage) while you sleep; products are able to better penetrate when you're not wearing makeup while you sleep and the skin can breathe," she adds.

Every skincare lineup in different, as is every routine. Although it may seem inconsequential to some, having a nightly ritual can bring with it a lot of joy.

Others would rather just get in bed. Not only does a "nightly" skincare routine get expensive fast, but some people simply don't have time. You're already running around at a thousand miles a minute during the day—can you really be expected to take 30 minutes to rub luxurious lotions on your skin before your head hits the pillow?

But for some, a nightly routine involves much more than skincare. Taking care of your skin is certainly part of the ritual, but it's more about building a daily routine of self care.

But really, what's the point? So many people are wrapped up in the mental benefits of a nightly skincare routine, but does it really have an impact? Toner might clean out your pores, but your problems will still exist 15 cotton balls later!
