Naked statues of Donald Trump appeared in 5 different cities. Do they go too far? | The Tylt

Naked statues of Donald Trump appeared in 5 different cities. Do they go too far?

Titled 'The Emperor Has No Balls,' the statues were created by the anarchist collective INDECLINE. The group told the Washington Post "Like it or not, Trump is a larger-than-life figure in world culture at the moment. Looking back in history, that’s how those figures were memorialized and idolized in their time — with statues." Creating a mocking statue is a powerful political statement. At the same time, these nude images were displayed in public and have an element of body shaming and indecency towards a public figure that would never be tolerated if it were any other candidate. Even anti-Trump supporters could argue these statues go too far.

Here is the Los Angeles version of the statue. It leaves nothing to the imagination. It's easy to imagine how the artists view this as political art meant to take power away from Trump.

Art should inspire conversation. Even jokes.

This kind of treatment of a political figure seems unparalleled.
