But Mr. Peanut of Planters Peanuts and Chester Cheetah of Frito-Lay's Cheetos stand out among the rest. Together, these two mascots have guided us through every snackable moment since preschool. Mr. Peanut, the beloved, bespectacled legume, has only a few days left on this earth. Planters, the company Mr. Peanut represents, is killing off many customers' favorite snack, albeit in a hero's downfall. He lived for 104, beautiful, perfectly-salted years, and still, it feels like decades too little. RIP, Mr. Peanut.
Despite the tragic news about Mr. Peanut, Chester Cheetah remains a stronghold in snack mascot lore. Chester taught us that wearing sunglasses indoors is cool, that it's okay to walk away from a Cheetos bag with your hands covered in sweet cheesy powder, and that the pain of Flaming Hot Cheetos is the only kind of pain worth enduring. In short, Chester is ready to take up Mr. Peanut's mantel.
