Team G-Code (led by sculpture department students from Kansas City Art Institute, where "Make48" was held), concerned with the safety and efficiency of new cooks, created the Chop Guide. It’s a hinged board with four color-coded cutting surfaces (to avoid cross-contamination) with a grid for uniform chopping. It features a guide for various chopping sizes (julienne, diced, and so on) and comes with a slide-in chopping tool similar to a mezzaluna.

Team Northland Caps, a group of four teenage Kansas City students, created the Wash Eez system to make washing clothes more efficient. A collapsible clothes hamper, the Wash Eez can be placed directly into the dryer, eliminating the chance of loose socks or other small items of clothing getting lost in the laundry process.
