It's World Chocolate Day! Is white chocolate delicious or disgusting? | The Tylt
It's World Chocolate Day, and the Internet is awash in images of delicious desserts... except for the white chocolate.
Inquiring minds want to know.....
Is white chocolate delicious—or disgusting?
Buzzfeed ran an anti-white chocolate piece in 2014 claiming that "white chocolate is an abomination" and demanding it be banned:
It’s not chocolate. What it is is a travesty— an unctuous, overwhelming, greasy slab of cocoa butter, milk solids, milk fat, and sweetener. NO COCOA SOLIDS. NO CHOCOLATE. THERE IS LITERALLY NO CHOCOLATE IN IT. IT IS A LIE.
This level of antipathy is typical of white chocolate haters — they really find it sinful and wrong, a perversion of the greatest dessert on earth. To them, white chocolate is an oxymoron, like "humane slaughter," " friendly fire" or "family vacation."
And yet, there are white chocolate lovers among us mortals. It's smooth, creamy and has a strong aftertaste that only a true connoisseur can appreciate. Just listen to the main ingredients of white chocolate: cocoa butter, milk solids, sugar and milk fat. You're telling me that doesn't sound delicious!
