Grocery shopping: irritating necessity or fun pastime?

Grocery shopping has not one redeeming factor. The people are all grumpy and vicious in a way only someone trying to get in on grocery deals can be; trying to find the things you need is always a drag; and then, to top everything off, you see how expensive feeding yourself actually is. It kind of makes you wish you were just a Tamagotchi—blissfully floating around and getting fed for free.

Luckily, there’s a lot of food subscription services out there now. Still—if we could wake up and just have food automatically in our cabinets (and prepared), we’d be happy. We’ll keep dreaming…

How is grocery shopping not a fun time? Think about it: the thrill of unlatching your grocery cart from all the others and pushing it through the door; the confidence you feel as you go into each aisle, playing out the strategy you have for picking up each item; the shrewdness that comes from knowing which fruit or vegetable is gross off the bat. They say knowledge is power, but knowing how to really grocery shop? That’s godliness.

There’s also a great feeling of control one has when they’re buying their own food. You’re not at the behest of anyone else and aren’t limited to only a few portions because you’re ordering from a subscription. So you go out and drop those coupons—happy shopping!
