Disgraced comedian Louis C.K. has been spotted at the Comedy Cellar in New York, prompting observers to wonder if he is planning a comeback after his sexual misconduct landed him in exile. Many of his fellow comics think he deserves a comeback. He's shown genuine contrition, and he's hardly a Cosby or Weinstein-esque monster. Others argue he should stay gone—there's plenty of other excellent comedians more worthy of our attention than this dirty old man. Should Louis C.K. return? 🗣️

Louis C.K. admitted that the longstanding rumors that he had masturbated in front of female comics and co-workers were true. Many of his colleagues say he'll need to apologize and atone, but that if he's willing to address how he's genuinely changed and learned from the experience, he will be welcomed back into show business.

“I don’t think people want this to be a life sentence,” says Comedy Cellar owner Noam Dworman.

But Jess Joho has no time for Louis C.K.'s redemption arc.

Forgiving, forgetting, and rewarding men (especially beloved auteur-types like C.K.) who do awful things to women has always been the norm....
You know who doesn't get the luxury of rebuilding their careers? The female comedians Julia Wolov, Dana Min Goodman, and Abby Schachner, who were either ostracized from the comedy community for speaking out or lost the will to keep trying after such demoralizing experiences.

Other fans say he's been exiled long enough.

But others think he should stay gone, and that we should pay more attention to the women whose careers were stifled then his minor six-month break from comedy domination.

Too soon, dude. Too soon.
