Do you disconnect from the internet to relax?
It’s not just the noises that technological connection makes that can be completely jarring. It’s the amount of information available to us. The constant news cycle coming at you all the time; the social media notifications bleeping at you. Pick up your phone for one second, and five hours later you’ve gone down an overwhelming rabbit hole of Wikipedia and Facebook searches. It’s exhausting.
Taking a step back from technology is the perfect way to relax. When you shut off for half a day, even, the mental and emotional difference is astounding. You know what, don’t even bother reading the rest of this article—shut the computer off and fly, you fools!
Okay, figuratively calm down, people…one is able to relax while surrounded by the internet. If you’re completely and totally addicted to your phone, sure, it can feel like a lot. But if you’re able to cut back a little bit, you’ll be able to find peace of mind without eschewing tech entirely.
Cutting yourself off entirely, even if it’s for a set amount of time, is a bit extreme, no? It’s beating back on modernity, like those people who just keep paying with checks and cash despite credit cards being a thing. Remember: everything in moderation.
