Pros of day-drinking: there’s usually no one else at the bar; it’s a nice break in the day; and you have the option of either maintaining your buzz through the next day or just crashing at 10 PM. Cons of day-drinking: none. Hell, even food tastes better when you day-drink. You’ve had a sober burger, sure, but nothing—nothing—compares to having a double bacon cheeseburger after a hard day’s drinking.

In a way, day-drinking is a mantle of maturity. Those of the older, wiser crowds are the ones who typically partake in cracking open brewskies during the day while the children slave over getting ready for the clubs at night. Just ignore the folks on St. Patty’s Day and Santa Con—those don’t count.

How can anyone who regularly day-drinks function? Answer: they can’t. If you spend daylight hours getting smashed, that’s a whole 24 hours wasted (pun intended). There are certain matters most adults have to attend to when the sun is up, like cleaning or grocery shopping or, you know, living. Day-drinking forces pushes these duties aside, piling them up until they’re too big to ignore.

Going out at night, on the other hand, allows for you to reward yourself with a hefty dose of irresponsibility after being responsible throughout regular hours. Besides, more people go out at night, making most places scenes where you can meet others and mingle. Here's to night owls.
