Which is the superior ice cream flavor: chocolate or vanilla?
Vanilla is the ideal ice cream flavor because of its simplicity. For this reason, it is the perfect base for an ice cream sundae, where rivers of hot fudge, mountains of cookie crumbles, and a touch of sprinkles improve overall flavor, rather than overpower it. As The Odyssey's Sarah Johnson writes:
Since vanilla is such a light base, you can pair almost anything with it. Now imagine if you added all of these things to chocolate ice cream. You would very quickly end up with a rich, disgusting, sickening mess that no one would want to eat.
Vanilla is light, refreshing, and the ideal ice cream flavor.
Just like vanilla, chocolate can be improved by a great many things, including more chocolate. Why limit the amount of chocolate you are consuming in your dessert? Double chocolate always wins. As one person writes in via Debate.org:
Chocolate is the ultimate pleasure. Just tasting it effects a euphoria otherwise unknown to mankind. In heaven everything is chocolate. Vanilla is just an ordinary flavor, but chocolate is the divine goodness that life is all about.
Chocolate ice cream will always be better than it's boring, vanilla counterpart.
