Which is the best dating app: Tinder or Bumble?

Tinder and Bumble are the top dating apps of 2019, but the two could not be more different. Most users turn to Tinder and Bumble for different experiences. They say when it comes down to it, Tinder is for hookups and Bumble is for dating. Still, people love the simplicity of Tinder while some prefer Bumble's female-first approach. Bumble has a much more welcoming feel than its dating app counterparts. Instead of a free-for-all, women start conversations. Plus, recipients only have 24 hours to respond before they lose their chance on a match, which encourages quick responses and a general attitude of straight-forwardness—at least more so than Tinder.

Because matches expire, users have a better chance of someone engaging in conversation on Bumble than they do on Tinder, and people tend to feel more hopeful about finding solid matches as a result.

Given these factors, it's not surprising that Bumble has the reputation of being the better app for actually dating. The entire purpose behind Bumble was to create a place that leveled the dating playing field and empowered users to make connections. For many, this is a much more appealing prospect than the endless swipes and empty conversations found on Tinder.

Regardless of whether you're looking for a date or a hookup, you want to go where your chances are the best, which means you should go where the most people are. As Digital Trends' Joshua Fruhlinger puts it:

When a single person then considers the fact that the vast majority of other single people are on Tinder, just like a night club, they realize that that’s the place they need to be.

Tinder is everyone's first step into the dating-app world, and users are more likely to find someone looking for similar things as a result. Even though a large pool means a lot of swiping, the number of potential matches is its own reward.

Tinder has also earned the reputation for hookups, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. According to data from LendEDU, roughly 22 percent of Tinder users say they use the app to find hookups. For many, a hookup is all they really want out of a dating app, and if that's the case for you, Tinder is an easy choice.
